The only official ABRSM presentation on the ABRSM Piano Syllabus presented by an ABRSM Examiner in Singapore. 

This session offers an in‑depth exploration of the updated repertoire, examining new highlights and much-loved favourites 

The pieces have been carefully chosen to develop your students’ musical curiosity, strengthen technical foundations and broaden stylistic awareness. Practical teaching strategies will be shared throughout, including approaches to introducing unfamiliar styles and developing holistic ideas that balance technique with creativity. Whether you are preparing candidates or seeking fresh inspiration, this seminar provides a valuable head start in engaging with ABRSM’s next syllabus. 

Your Presenters: 

Mark Tanner is a concert pianist, composer, adjudicator, teacher and writer. Appearances include recitals at London’s Wigmore Hall, 400 recitals at sea and broadcasts on BBC Radio 3 and Classic FM. Over fifty of his compositions have been chosen for examination syllabuses, and Faber have published six of Mark’s books. Mark has written 70 ‘Masterclass’ articles for Pianist Magazine. He holds a PhD and was a keyboard judge for the BBC Young Musician Competition. For ABRSM, Mark has undertaken 55 examination tours, has presented internationally and has enjoyed adjudicating ABRSM’s exciting new Piano Competition Southeast Asia.  

Christine Octaviani holds a Master of Music in Piano Performance from Trinity Laban Conservatoire of Music and Dance, where she studied with Elena Riu, the late Simon Young and Margaret Fingerhut. With a strong interest in music scholarship, she obtained a distinction in the L(Mus)TCL Diploma in Music Theory and her research paper, Understanding Beethoven: His Maladies and Creative Genius, earned her a distinction in the FRSM.  Christine previously served as Head of Piano at Mandeville Conservatory of Music, where she was responsible for developing curricula for the Creative Musicianship Classes. She is currently an Associate Professor with Joyeux Music International and an examiner with ABRSM, regularly adjudicating festivals, presenting syllabus seminars and contributing to piano syllabus resources.
