Admissions and Opportunities in Music
Monday 2 November 2026, 10:30 am ET / 7:30 am PT / 3:30 pm UK
What could music look like for your students at a US university? They might want to major or minor in music, pursue musical theatre, keep playing alongside another subject, or show how years of musical achievement have prepared them to study something entirely different. How can you help them find the right route and make the most of what they've already achieved?
In this two-part Zoom series, each with a live Q&A, we'll explore the application process, the opportunities available at different institutions, and the ways music can continue to be part of university life.
Kathy Tesar, former Associate Dean for Enrollment Management at Juilliard, will explain what your students need to know about the Common App and conservatory applications, auditions, scholarships and financial aid for international students, and student visas.
Following Kathy's presentation, representatives from four institutions will introduce their university or college and the opportunities open to your students, whether they hope to study music or pursue another subject while keeping music in their lives:
- Eastman School of Music
- Jacobs School of Music, Indiana University
- Washington State University
- Northeastern University NY, focusing on musical theatre
The session will close with a live Q&A with the panel.
Music teachers and school teachers are warmly welcome, as are students and parents, whether you're supporting applicants from overseas or in the US. Each session stands on its own, but we'd love you to join us for both.
