A practical, inspiring session designed to develop a vibrant, sustainable singing culture across your school. This session explores how singing and music-making can strengthen school identity and create a deeper sense of belonging for every child.
This session is most relevant to those working in primary schools, including classroom teachers, music subject leads, senior leaders and pastoral staff, but everyone is welcome.
By the end of this session, you will be able to:
-
Build a whole-school singing culture that supports confidence, connection and school spirit.
-
Nurture and grow each child’s individual voice through inclusive, low-pressure musical experiences.
-
Use musical activities to support emotional regulation, re-regulation and readiness to learn.
-
Support vocal health and safe singing for all pupils.
This session will explore how singing can become more than a performance outcome and instead become part of the everyday culture of a school. Participants will consider how regular singing and music-making can help children feel known, heard and connected, while also supporting confidence, communication, cooperation and positive relationships.
Teachers will explore practical approaches for embedding singing into daily routines, assemblies, classroom practice and whole-school events. The session will include strategies for engaging reluctant singers, supporting children who may not yet see themselves as musical, and creating safe musical spaces where every child can participate successfully.
Delivered by ABRSM Voices Consultant Jenny Trattles, this session is packed with practical activities, inclusive strategies and invaluable insights to help you make singing and music-making a vibrant, meaningful and integral part of your school life.
